Social Applications with Facebook
According to my previous blog
, online-social network seems to become a key of success to do viral marketing. It is not surprised that you see many social sites occurring in Web 2.0 era. That’s because many IT geeks having business mind think of creating Social Applications along with promoting them via pre-existing social networks.
So, if you are IT geek who likes this idea, I will introduce you a place to make your life easier. I would like to talk about facebook.com. Of course, I will not give any comments about “A True Bubble Deal - $15 billion valuation”, but just share my points of view why facebook.com becomes one of top favorite places for software developers to show off their incredible works.

First, let see a real example to prove how it works. iLike which is a Music Artist App on facebook, takes advantage of having nearly 10 million users after facebook have announced to allow developers create their own app and deploy it on the facebook site since May 2007.
Second, if you wonder if this example is real, try to read some facts about facebook by Mark Zuckerberg on May 24, 2007
· Facebook is growing 3% per week, which are 100,000 new users per day.
· The fastest growing demographic is the 25 and up age group.
· 50% of registered users come back to the site every day.
If you ever see how people successfully do viral video clips via YouTube.com, you can imagine how to apply the same concept of social network to do viral applications.
Third, as I wrote about provider business strategy in
, facebook provides resources along with code examples to help developers easily understand facebook platform and develop their own applications based on their preferred languages like JAVA, PHP, Ruby, .NET… etc.
In summary, this information might inspire you some ideas about Social Applications. For the rest, it will be your call to get your hand on it or not.
